Hiking East Safari

Your private tour guide and driver will be waiting at the airport ready to receive you and brief you about Uganda, the pearl of Africa, when you arrive at the airport.  They will then transfer you to the lodge where you will spend the night. If ready for sleep, you will immediately retreat to your room ahead of your journey tomorrow. In the morning you will be refreshed and ready to go.

Have your breakfast early then set off to Kidepo Valley National Park, passing through villages and farm fields. Kidepo National park is the most isolated park in Uganda, but still stands out as one of the best virgin places every wildlife viewer should visit. Stop for lunch and then continue to the park. Upon arrival, check into the lodge for dinner and rest.

Head out early for a game drive along the trails of Kidepo Valley. The park inhabits one of the most exciting fauna of any Ugandan park, with over 80 species of mammals - several of which are endemic to Kidepo National Park like the cheetah, the striped hyena the caracal and over 465 bird species including ostriches. Return to the lodge for lunch and later enjoy another game drive of wilderness and more adventure. Return to the lodge for dinner and well-deserved rest.

This morning, head out to visit a Karamojong community and discover their culture, music and dance. Karamoja has a cattle culture and the Karamojong are notorious as cattle raiders. Unlike most other Ugandans, many Karamojong shun western-style clothes and instead wear “traditional” dress of a blanket-like shawl, often in red and black. The women wear elaborate beadwork. After lunch, return to the lodge for some rest.

Today, get back on the road, heading to the Eastern part of Uganda towards the beautiful Sipi falls. Have lunch on the way and continue towards the falls. On arrival, you will be briefed by a local guide who will guide you on your hike. You will start with the topmost waterfall descending down to the bottom fall. After hiking, transfer to the lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, your driver will pick you up and transfer you to Mountain Elgon for hiking. This mountain is shared by Uganda and Kenya. The mountain has a number of trails which hikers use to hike up to the top. The mountain is also home to the magnificent Sipi falls, gorges, hot springs, caves and different animal species like elephants, forest monkeys, small antelopes, buffaloes and around 300 bird species. After hiking, transfer to the lodge for lunch and an afternoon of rest. Later, enjoy your dinner and the night at the lodge.

Have breakfast and get back on the road, Entebbe-bound. Stop briefly on the route for lunch before the final lap to Entebbe. On arrival, check into the lodge for some well-deserved rest.

On this final morning of your safari, have breakfast and rest, or visit the botanical gardens as you await your flight. The splendid Entebbe Botanical gardens lie at the shores of one of the world’s largest fresh water lakes found in Uganda, Lake Victoria. Later your driver will drive you to the airport to catch your flight.
