We started Hartlaub’s Tourism as a response to two major frustrations we've experienced when it comes to travel.

Firstly, there are so many great places out there that many of us never hear about or never discover because the larger travel agencies don't go there. In case you're wondering why, it's mainly because most travel agencies operate on the principle of maximising profit for their shareholders by ramming as many people as possible onto a plane. We don’t do that, and are all about the experience we offer our guests, and keeping the local communities we work in with employment.

Secondly, we have seen so many cases of foreign-owned travel companies offering holidays in countries from which the country itself and local communities benefit little, with all profits being sucked out of the country. So, we operate differently and are majority-owned by local people in each country we work in, ensuring sustainability within the local tourism industry, and contributing to a circular economy.

However, despite amazing and unique natural beauty to die for, many of these countries have almost no developed tourist industry, not because they're not worth visiting, but more because the Governments have not been successful at developing the tourist industry properly, or courting the major Travel Agencies or Airlines.

Whilst this has had a negative impact on the tourist industries, national and especially the local economies, it does mean that there are still many locations out there that are relatively undiscovered. So we are working to improve the tourist industry in the countries we work in, provide local people with jobs, and give you an amazing experience at the same time!
